About the Role and Company
Join a top 5 national homebuilder committed to helping families purchase homes, with over 500,000 homes built and sold nationwide over the past 70 years. This opportunity is for a Remote Fully Designated Mortgage Underwriter to join a dedicated team and contribute to making homeownership more accessible.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform underwriting for Conventional, FHA, and VA loans adhering strictly to investor and agency requirements.
- Submit loan files via automated underwriting systems and assess the outcomes.
- Make decisions to approve or pend loans, and prepare qualifying submissions for loan committee consideration.
- Act as a reliable underwriting consultant for branch partners by addressing inquiries and handling complex cases.
- Maintain turnaround times of 24 to 48 hours for new loan submissions and resubmissions.
- Ensure precision in loan documentation and consistent file organization.
- Leverage various office tools and systems to enhance the underwriting process's efficiency.
Qualifications
- Current FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) and VA SAR/LAPP underwriting certifications are mandatory.
- At least five years of hands-on mortgage underwriting experience.
- Excellent customer service attitude coupled with a cooperative and problem-solving approach.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across mortgage and lending teams.
- Strong meticulousness and accuracy in reviewing financial documents.
- Advanced organizational capabilities along with planning and time management skills.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel for organizing and analyzing loan data.
- Experience with Encompass software is advantageous but not obligatory.
