Remote Junior Front-End Developer

About the Role

This position is for an early-career front-end developer who is eager to build polished, responsive, and easy-to-use web experiences from a remote setup. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys learning, pays close attention to detail, and wants to grow while working with a supportive engineering team.

You will collaborate with designers, backend engineers, product managers, and senior developers to turn design ideas into working interfaces. Your work will include developing new features, supporting existing products, fixing issues, and helping improve overall usability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Create accessible, responsive, and visually consistent user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript.
• Convert wireframes, prototypes, and design mockups into reusable UI components and functional web pages.
• Write clean, semantic, and maintainable code aligned with established engineering standards.
• Make sure applications work reliably across current browsers and a range of devices.
• Design layouts that adapt smoothly to desktop, tablet, and mobile screens.
• Support integration of front-end features with REST APIs and server-side services.
• Work with designers to implement visual and interactive elements accurately.
• Coordinate with backend engineers to ensure smooth data flow between client and server.
• Take part in sprint planning, daily syncs, retrospectives, and other agile meetings.
• Share progress, blockers, and technical ideas clearly with teammates and stakeholders.
• Learn from senior developers about development patterns, architecture, and best practices.
• Build modular, reusable, and well-documented code.
• Participate in peer reviews and apply constructive feedback to improve your work.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve front-end issues efficiently.
• Help identify and fix UI defects and browser compatibility problems.
• Refactor existing code to improve maintainability and performance.
• Contribute to internal documentation and technical reference material.
• Improve speed, responsiveness, and scalability of web applications.
• Reduce load times and optimize assets to enhance website performance.
• Follow accessibility practices such as WCAG where relevant.
• Test user interfaces across browsers, operating systems, and screen sizes.
• Track UI issues and suggest practical improvements.
• Keep up with new front-end technologies, frameworks, and development trends.
• Continue building knowledge of modern JavaScript, CSS methodologies, and component-based development.
• Join knowledge-sharing discussions and technical sessions.
• Strengthen problem-solving and technical skills through mentorship and self-learning.

Requirements

• 1 to 2 years of relevant front-end experience, including professional work, internships, freelance projects, or equivalent hands-on practice.
• Strong command of HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Understanding of responsive design and mobile-first development.
• Comfort using Git and working within shared version-control workflows.
• Basic knowledge of the DOM, browser rendering behavior, and web standards.
• Experience working with REST APIs.
• Ability to troubleshoot front-end issues using browser developer tools.
• Awareness of cross-browser behavior and responsive testing techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while staying aligned with distributed team members.
• Familiarity with React, Vue.js, or another modern JavaScript framework is a plus.
• TypeScript knowledge is an added advantage.
• Exposure to Sass, Less, Tailwind CSS, or Bootstrap is beneficial.
• Understanding of state management concepts is helpful.
• Basic experience with Node.js or other backend technologies is a plus.
• Knowledge of build tools such as Vite, Webpack, or Parcel is desirable.
• Comfort with package managers like npm or Yarn is useful.
• Experience using Figma or similar design collaboration tools is advantageous.
• Awareness of web accessibility standards, especially WCAG, is preferred.
• Basic understanding of SEO best practices for front-end work is helpful.
• Exposure to Jest, Vitest, or Cypress is a plus.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments is beneficial.
