Descrizione del lavoro
Role overview
This opportunity is for a registered electrician who wants to step into industrial electrical and electromechanical work rather than standard domestic electrical tasks. The role sits within a respected New Zealand service business that supports major manufacturing, power generation, and processing operations through repair, servicing, and maintenance of large electrical equipment.
You will be part of a skilled team and gain hands-on exposure to electromechanical repair. Experience with generators or large motors would be helpful, although it is not required because training will be provided.
What the role involves
The position combines site-based field service with workshop repair work. Your day-to-day work will include finding faults, repairing and testing equipment, and assisting with the installation and commissioning of industrial electrical systems at customer locations across the Central North Island.
Key duties
- Identify faults, test equipment, and complete repairs on industrial electrical systems
- Remove, fit, and commission motors, generators, and pumps
- Service and test switchgear and related electrical equipment
- Carry out planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns
- Perform workshop repair and testing of electromechanical equipment
- Deliver professional service when working on customer premises
- Work to safe practices while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
Candidate profile
The employer is looking for someone with an active New Zealand EWRB registered electrician practising licence, unrestricted right to work in New Zealand, and a full New Zealand Class 1 driver's licence. Strong diagnostic ability, a practical problem-solving mindset, and good communication and time management are important.
Background in industrial, manufacturing, or electromechanical settings is valued. Experience with motors, pumps, switchboards, or industrial machinery will be an advantage. A willingness to learn specialist repair work and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are also key.
