Job Overview and Work Locations
This Band 6 radiographer position involves rotations across various general radiology services including theatres, maxillofacial imaging, CT scans, and fluoroscopy. Additional rotation opportunities may be available in MRI, Mammography, and the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
The role extends to several community healthcare facilities:
- Haslemere: A small market town in South Surrey featuring one X-ray and one ultrasound room within a busy Urgent Treatment Centre. Expansion plans include an additional ultrasound room and possible other uses of available space.
- Milford: Located in the village of Milford, this site hosts a new Community Diagnostic Centre equipped with two MRI scanners, one CT scanner, one X-ray room, and two ultrasound rooms.
- Cranleigh: Nestled at the base of the Surrey Hills, Cranleigh Village Hospital contains one X-ray and one ultrasound room. A refurbishment scheduled for 2026, supported by the League of Friend Charity, will introduce a new DEXA service.
Key Duties
- Take initiative and responsibility in assisting radiologists during imaging procedures.
- Maintain accurate and professional patient records documenting diagnostic services.
- Oversee junior radiographers, support ancillary staff, and provide guidance to students as needed.
- Administer iodinated contrast agents during radiographic examinations per departmental protocols, ensuring up-to-date certification in Immediate Life Support (ILS).
- Contribute to the training and clinical instruction of student radiographers alongside training coordinators.
- Utilize and help train staff on specialist and complex diagnostic imaging equipment.
