Quantity Surveyor - Civil, Infrastructure, Water Supply, STP/WTP Projects

About the Role

We seek an experienced Quantity Surveyor skilled in Civil Construction, Infrastructure, and Water & Wastewater projects, including STP, WTP, and GWTP systems. This full-time position is based in Chennai and various project sites and involves managing quantity estimation, bill of quantities (BOQ) development, rate analysis, billing, and cost management for multiple project types.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from project drawings and specifications for civil and infrastructure works, including earthworks, RCC, masonry, plastering, roadworks, pipelines, and various water treatment structures.
• Manage quantity surveying for water supply and treatment projects, covering pipelines (DI/MS/HDPE/uPVC/CPVC), pumping stations, water tanks, STP/WTP civil structures, treatment systems, mechanical and electrical components.
• Prepare and verify client running account bills and measurement documentation, ensuring compliance with approved drawings and site records; liaise with site engineers for measurement verification and payment follow-up.
• Review subcontractor quantity submissions, bills, and material usage to prepare payment certificates and monitor variations and deductions.
• Conduct rate analysis, estimating costs for labor, materials, machinery, overheads, and extra items; support tendering and budgeting processes.
• Identify and document contract variations and additional works, maintaining comprehensive records for client approval and financial tracking.
• Monitor actual quantities versus BOQ, material consumption, and cost overruns; support project managers with reconciliation and cost control reports.
• Coordinate with project teams to interpret drawings, manage revisions, and resolve discrepancies between drawings, BOQ, and site conditions.
• Maintain accurate documentation including BOQ, measurement sheets, bills, variation statements, reconciliation reports, and MIS reports for management review.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Additional qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management are advantageous.
• 3 to 7 years' relevant experience in quantity surveying, billing, and estimation within civil construction, infrastructure, water supply, STP, and WTP projects.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong expertise in BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, and rate analysis for civil and infrastructure works.
• Proficient in RA billing and subcontractor billing processes with understanding of measurement books and sheets.
• Good command over construction drawings and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of STP, WTP, and water supply project components.
• Advanced skills in Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD and ERP/project management software is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, documentation, communication, and coordination skills.

Additional Information

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in government or municipal infrastructure projects including STP, WTP, and water supply schemes. Successful candidates will demonstrate accuracy in estimation, timely billing, effective variation documentation, and strong cost control.
