About the role
This position sits within Emirates Electrical Engineering LLC, a specialized business unit of Al Rostamani Group. The group has operated since 1957 and is known for its commitment to care, vision, community involvement, and a diverse workforce representing 41 nationalities. Emirates Electrical Engineering delivers turnkey solutions for solar rooftops in the UAE, along with electrical power project execution across high-voltage substations, cable networks, and transmission lines.
Role purpose
The Purchaser MEP will be responsible for understanding material demand from different projects and contracts, identifying suitable suppliers, negotiating competitive pricing, coordinating deliveries, and keeping stock levels within the required limits.
Key responsibilities
- Support the senior team in sourcing materials, equipment, equipment hire, labour hire, subcontracts, and services for project sites in line with company purchasing procedures.
- Collect supplier quotations, review them carefully, and share recommendations with the Senior Officer Purchase.
- Issue purchase orders and follow through to ensure materials, hired equipment, labour, subcontracted work, and services arrive on time at site.
- Keep purchase and inventory records accurate, complete, and current.
- Track supplier delivery performance and product quality.
- Coordinate with divisional managers, project managers, site managers, and other team members to understand site requirements and procure accordingly.
- Spot opportunities to reduce cost and escalate them to supervisors.
- Confirm that all ordered quantities and specifications match project needs and comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to improve the procurement experience.
- Review procurement workflows regularly and suggest improvements that improve efficiency and control costs.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by the Senior Officer Purchase or management.
Requirements
- A graduation degree, preferably in Commerce, or a Diploma in Engineering.
- Supply chain certification will be considered an advantage.
- At least 5 years of experience in project materials purchasing within a contracting or construction environment.
- Hands-on experience with ERP MM modules; SAP knowledge is an added benefit.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel and the MS Office suite.
- Well-developed organizational, planning, and time management abilities.
- High attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
- Comfortable working independently as well as in a team setting.
- Good understanding of construction materials, equipment, and supply chain practices.
- Ability to manage several tasks at once and prioritize effectively.
