Purchase Engineer - WTP/STP/ETP

Role Overview

The Purchase Engineer will manage procurement for water and wastewater treatment projects, including WTP, STP, and ETP assignments. The position focuses on sourcing materials and services, evaluating supplier quotes, negotiating commercial terms, raising purchase orders, and coordinating with engineering, project, and stores teams so that materials arrive on schedule and match project needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and build a dependable supplier base for equipment and materials used in WTP, STP, and ETP projects.
• Send RFQs to multiple vendors and collect competitive quotations.
• Assess vendor quotations from both technical and commercial perspectives with support from engineering teams.
• Negotiate price, delivery timelines, payment terms, and contract conditions with suppliers.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders based on approved quotations.
• Make sure POs clearly mention specifications, quantities, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
• Keep complete records of procurement activity and purchase documentation.
• Procure key items such as pumps, blowers, valves, piping materials, motors, panels, dosing systems, chemical dosing pumps, pressure vessels, tanks, instruments, filters, membranes, and treatment media.
• Work with engineering, design, and project teams to understand technical requirements and purchasing needs.
• Coordinate with stores and logistics teams to ensure timely material movement and receipt.
• Track vendors closely to avoid delays and resolve supply issues proactively.
• Monitor procurement budgets and support cost-effective buying decisions.
• Maintain vendor databases, purchase logs, and related records.
• Compile MIS reports, purchase progress updates, and procurement summaries for management.
• Ensure bought materials comply with technical specifications and quality expectations.
• Check vendor certifications and compliance papers whenever required.
• Support QA/QC teams during inspection of critical equipment.
