Role Overview

  • Lead project execution from start to finish, ensuring safety, timely delivery, and budget adherence.
  • Develop comprehensive project scopes, schedules, and budgets; prepare routine status reports for NL Hydro leadership.
  • Manage tender packages and participate in contract evaluations and awards to secure value and quality for NL Hydro.
  • Supervise multidisciplinary project teams consisting of engineers, contractors, and consultants to meet objectives.
  • Regularly visit construction sites to oversee progress, verify milestones, and assist site personnel.
  • Identify potential risks, evaluate them, and implement mitigation strategies, maintaining an updated risk register.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communications, ensuring project changes are accurately reflected in budgets and timelines.
  • Ensure contractors comply with NL Hydro’s Contractor Safety Management Plan and health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Manage project closeout activities, ensuring a smooth handover of assets to operational teams.
  • Encourage continuous improvement by documenting lessons learned and sharing innovative practices across teams.
  • Submit all required timesheets and documentation following NL Hydro project management standards.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with registration from the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI is preferred.
  • At least 8 years of advancing experience managing hydro-electric or electrical utility projects.
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, civil, and mechanical engineers, alongside design and construction partners.
  • Demonstrated capability to supervise projects on operational industrial sites, including contractor management and safety compliance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Flexibility to operate effectively in dynamic, changing work environments.
