Role Overview
Sky Contracting Inc. is looking for a driven Construction/Renovation Project Coordinator to support its growing team in Oakville, Ontario.
Project Planning
- Clarify the project’s scope, goals, and key deliverables.
- Build a detailed plan covering timelines and budgets.
- Identify, organize, and coordinate project teams, including contractors and subcontractors.
- Set up and keep the project schedule current.
Budget Oversight
- Draft and track project budgets.
- Watch project spending closely to keep costs under control.
- Approve spending and change orders when needed.
Risk Management
- Spot potential risks and issues that could affect progress.
- Create and apply measures to reduce or manage those risks.
- Maintain adherence to safety rules and procedures.
Quality Control
- Set project quality standards and ensure they are followed.
- Carry out routine site inspections and quality reviews.
- Confirm that work aligns with design and regulatory expectations.
Communication and Reporting
- Keep clients, architects, engineers, government agencies, and other stakeholders informed.
- Share regular updates and progress reports.
- Respond quickly to project issues and help resolve them.
Procurement Support
- Assist the Procurement Manager with sourcing materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Help negotiate agreements with vendors and subcontractors.
- Ensure needed resources remain available throughout the project.
Schedule Management
- Track schedules and revise them as project needs change.
- Coordinate construction activities so work moves efficiently.
- Work through timing conflicts and delays.
Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain complete project records, including contracts and change orders.
- Ensure legal and regulatory documentation is kept in order.
Change Management
- Review proposed scope or schedule changes.
- Implement approved changes while minimizing disruption to progress.
Project Closeout and Handover
- Manage closeout tasks such as final inspections, punch lists, and commissioning.
- Transfer the completed project to the client with all required documents.
Team Leadership
- Guide and support project team members.
- Promote a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Handle team conflicts when they arise.
Environmental and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure the project follows environmental rules and permit conditions.
- Secure the approvals and permits required for the work.
Requirements
- Background as a Construction Project Coordinator or in a comparable position.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes.
- Strong planning, organization, and time-management abilities.
- Capability to prioritize work and meet deadlines consistently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in project records.
