Role Overview
As Production Manager, based on-site in Columbus, OH, you will oversee daily operational activities within our small-scale meat production facility. You’ll coordinate production schedules, assign tasks to staff, and manage workflows to ensure all products consistently meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. In addition, you will monitor inventory, liaise with procurement and sales departments, maintain equipment, and ensure safe, compliant operation of machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coach production staff to uphold high standards of product safety and quality.
- Manage production scheduling, staff allocation, and workflow coordination to meet output goals.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operated safely within the facility.
- Uphold food safety regulations, including HACCP guidelines, and maintain compliance with relevant authorities.
- Collaborate with leadership on process improvements, efficiency enhancements, and waste reduction.
- Support new product development and ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders across all channels.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven management experience in food manufacturing, meat processing, or similar production environments.
- Understanding of food safety protocols, HACCP, and meat product regulatory compliance preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with expertise in scheduling, workflow planning, and staff coordination.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to train and motivate diverse teams in a dynamic setting.
- Competence in inventory control, production metrics, and use of monitoring systems or spreadsheets.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to product quality and safe handling practices.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities to work across operations and sales.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift materials, and comply with facility safety requirements.
- Experience in artisanal or small-batch food production environments is desirable.
- Minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent; additional education in food science or operations is beneficial.
