Prison Support Officer - HMP Bullingdon

Role Overview

Join HMP Bullingdon as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) where you will contribute fundamentally to the smooth operation of the prison. Your responsibilities will range from conducting security checks and searches at the entrance to supervising visitors, managing deliveries, and monitoring phone and CCTV systems. This diverse role blends administrative desk duties with physical activities such as escorting vehicles across the prison premises.

Location and Travel Requirements

The prison is located in Oddington, a rural setting with limited public transit. While having a personal vehicle and a valid full UK driving license including category D1 (allowing you to drive vehicles with no more than 16 passenger seats, up to 8 meters in length, and trailers up to 750kg) is preferred, it is not an absolute requirement. Shift start and end times are fixed, and punctuality in arrival is mandatory.

Candidate Profile

Formal qualifications are not necessary, but strong communication skills, composure under pressure, sound judgment, and the ability to work well within a team are essential. The role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and nights. Interaction with prisoners is limited but may occur depending on the prison's specific needs.
