Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site position in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Pricing Specialist in Freight Forwarding is accountable for building accurate and competitive quotations for export and import cargo across air, sea, and land transportation. The role requires close coordination with carriers, agents, and internal operations teams to collect and verify tariffs, negotiate pricing, and keep pricing records current. It also includes reviewing costs, answering customer pricing questions, helping the sales team with prompt proposals, tracking market movements, and refining pricing approaches based on results and trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare precise freight quotations for import and export shipments across multiple transport modes.
- Confirm that rates, surcharges, and commercial terms are correct before proposals are issued.
- Liaise with carriers, overseas agents, and internal teams to gather and validate tariffs.
- Support rate negotiations and help maintain a competitive pricing position.
- Update and manage pricing databases so information stays current and reliable.
- Assess cost components, margins, and market pricing to inform quotation strategy.
- Respond to client pricing requests quickly and in a professional manner.
- Assist the sales function by delivering timely quotations and commercial proposals.
- Track quote outcomes and prepare reports to review pricing effectiveness.
- Monitor market changes and contribute to ongoing improvements in pricing processes and service quality.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of freight forwarding and freight transport, ideally gained in pricing or operations within logistics.
- Hands-on knowledge of forwarding and export workflows, including documentation, Incoterms, and international trade rules.
- Strong customer-facing communication and the ability to handle rate requests efficiently and professionally.
- Capability to examine costs, profit margins, and market rates, along with strong numerical ability and Excel proficiency.
- Familiarity with carrier agreements, tariffs, and booking processes for air, sea, and land freight.
- Good English communication skills; additional regional trade languages are considered an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management to manage multiple quotations and deadlines.
- Prior experience in pricing or operations is required.
- Experience in project logistics pricing is preferred.
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a similar field is beneficial.
