Plumber Technician

Overview

This position involves performing plumbing repair, maintenance, and installation work across various areas within the company. Responsibilities include installing, troubleshooting, maintaining complete plumbing systems such as air, gas, vacuum, domestic water, and drainage systems. The role requires servicing and repairing backflow preventers, sanitary fixtures, and heating systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Use power tools, sewer cleaning machines, hand tools, and plumbing equipment effectively.
• Replace seals in toilets and clean water filtration systems; clear blockages in sinks, toilets, and drains.
• Maintain piping and associated systems to ensure proper functioning of equipment.
• Respond swiftly to emergency mechanical issues including flooding scenarios.
• Cut, weld, assemble pipes, tubes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures.
• Inspect and test plumbing systems to confirm safety standards.
• Install valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures in commercial and residential buildings.
• Coordinate with contractors, electricians, and other construction trades.
• Interpret and follow building plans and blueprints accurately.
• Address and resolve plumbing emergencies through diagnosis and repair.
• Conduct routine inspections on plumbing and drainage infrastructure.
• Perform light construction work such as carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling, and electrical tasks as needed while maintaining precise material usage records.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.

Skills & Capabilities

• Competent in reading and working from blueprints, specifications, verbal instructions, or sketches.
• Capable of managing work orders, procuring materials, and completing tasks accurately.
• Ability to report work progress and provide written completion notes on work orders.
• Skilled at identifying, diagnosing, and fixing defects or malfunctions in various plumbing systems.
• Proficient in performing all tasks adhering to Bahamas plumbing licensing standards and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in related plumbing work.

Language Requirements

• Effective verbal communication in English with colleagues and clients.
• Proficient in reading and writing English to comprehend instructions, documentation, and give clear verbal and written feedback.

Physical and Other Requirements

• Must possess good physical fitness.
• Demonstrate strong customer service aptitude.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and think critically.
• Work environment largely climate-controlled with minimal health risks, but exposure to outside elements and machine operation is expected.
• May be required to work on different shifts as scheduled.
