Job Overview

The Planning Engineer will take responsibility for developing, monitoring, and managing the project schedule on a Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination project located in Fujairah, UAE. This role involves ensuring efficient planning and timely execution alongside consistent progress tracking throughout all stages including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. The engineer will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams to identify and mitigate risks, optimize schedules, and guarantee delivery according to contractual commitments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and update detailed project schedules utilizing Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Establish baseline schedules, define milestones, and determine critical paths for the project.
  • Regularly track project progress and update schedules accordingly.
  • Coordinate planning inputs with engineering, procurement, and site teams to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform schedule variance analysis to detect delays and suggest corrective actions.
  • Prepare comprehensive weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and forecasts.
  • Monitor procurement, material deliveries, and construction activities relative to the schedule.
  • Assist in resource planning and allocation processes to meet timelines.
  • Conduct risk assessments and scenario planning to optimize schedules.
  • Participate actively in project review meetings providing planning insights.
  • Review and evaluate contractor schedules to align them with the master project schedule.
  • Support claims analysis, assessment of extensions of time, and delay evaluations.
  • Ensure adherence to project control procedures and reporting standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering disciplines such as Civil or Mechanical or related fields.
  • At least 6 to 10 years’ experience in project planning and scheduling roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in large-scale industrial, infrastructure, or SWRO desalination projects.
  • Expert user of Primavera P6 is mandatory; proficiency in Microsoft Project is also required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project controls, scheduling methodologies, and cost integration.
  • Understanding of EPC project lifecycle and construction processes.
  • Prior work experience within the Middle East region, ideally in the UAE.
  • Strong analytical skills, reporting capability, and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Familiarity with risk management and techniques for delay analysis.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP or Primavera P6 are an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to interface with project teams.
