Role overview

In this position, you will work on designing and developing the next generation of SNSPDs with extremely low timing jitter and high quantum efficiency across the optical range, from blue/UV through deep infrared. The work involves building cryogenic test systems that combine high-bandwidth RF electronics with femtosecond laser optics, while also paying close attention to cryogenic thermal/mechanical design, signal integrity, and full automation. You will also work closely with Single Quantum’s scientific customers to help ensure the company’s detectors support leading-edge research in quantum technology and photonics worldwide.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and run advanced cryogenic experiments for SNSPDs together with the related cryogenic RF electronics.
  • Build and configure a femtosecond laser system with two frequency-doubling stages, including a pulse picker with a high on-off ratio.
  • Develop detectors that achieve timing jitter in the range of only a few picoseconds.
  • Work with renowned research groups across the field and share results at major scientific conferences.

Candidate profile

  • Strong aptitude for rapidly understanding and solving practical experimental physics challenges.
  • Hands-on capability to assemble, troubleshoot, and improve experimental setups involving cryostats, femtosecond lasers, free-space optics, and cryogenic RF electronics.
