Job description
Overview
The Pharmacy Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the pharmacist with daily store functions, facilitating efficient medicine dispensing, excellent customer service, inventory control, and adherence to pharmacy laws and policies. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, effective communication abilities, and a strong customer-centric attitude.
Primary Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist customers courteously, offering guidance on over-the-counter medicines and wellness products.
- Accurately manage billing and cash handling processes while resolving customer inquiries and escalating complex matters to the pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacist during the dispensing of prescribed medications, ensuring correct labeling, packaging, and patient confidentiality.
- Receive inventory shipments, verify them with invoices, organize stock respecting FIFO/FEFO protocols, monitor stock levels, and report shortages.
- Remove expired or damaged products from shelves promptly to maintain quality standards.
- Keep the pharmacy neat and hygienic, maintaining appropriate storage conditions and adhering to merchandising display standards.
- Maintain precise documentation including sales records, stock data, and invoices, and comply with company and statutory rules.
- Assist in audit processes to ensure accuracy in all documentation and operational procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Individuals with Intermediate, Diploma, or Degree qualifications, preferably in Pharmacy.
- Open to freshers as well as candidates with zero to two years of experience in retail pharmacy or healthcare sectors.
Key Skills
- Fundamental understanding of medicines and healthcare products.
- Proficient communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer literacy, including billing software and MS Office.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in tasks.
- Capability to work various shifts, including under customer pressure.
