Overview
We are seeking a Payroll Team Lead or Manager to join Foot Locker APAC, overseeing payroll operations across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. This role goes beyond typical payroll transactions and focuses on compliance, system controls, and innovating payroll processes. Reporting to the Director of Payroll & Workforce Management, you will lead a small team, ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery while driving continuous improvements. Collaboration with HR, HRIS, and CX teams to enhance governance, systems, and processes is key to success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Lead, guide, and develop the payroll team to promote high performance and ongoing enhancements.
- Manage end-to-end payroll functions across the APAC region, guaranteeing accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain and improve payroll systems, controls, and workflows.
- Ensure adherence to local laws, Retail Awards, and statutory requirements, supporting audits as needed.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex payroll challenges and sensitive issues.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and HRIS departments on payroll strategies and system modifications.
- Provide payroll analytics, reports, and insights to assist business decision-making.
- Participate in special projects and continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements
- Demonstrated payroll leadership experience in large-scale, high-volume settings.
- Deep knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, compliance, and governance involving 1,000+ employees.
- Experience in the retail sector is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with New Zealand and Singapore payroll operations is advantageous.
- Skilled in payroll platforms such as ADP, Kronos/UKG, PeopleSoft, or Rockfast.
- Proven involvement in system-related projects including implementations, upgrades, or testing.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel functions like PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and SUMIFS.
- Exceptional attention to detail with effective multitasking and deadline management capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
