Job Overview
Join Advance Auto Parts in Fredericton, New Brunswick as a Parts Counter specialist providing expert guidance to customers both in-store, online and via phone. This is a hands-on role blending retail sales with parts inventory management and requires both automotive knowledge and strong customer service skills.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver professional and knowledgeable selling experience across multiple channels including walk-in, online, and phone customers.
- Meet or exceed personal and store sales targets as well as service expectations.
- Carry out key holder duties such as task coordination, safety enforcement, and store opening/closing activities.
Secondary Duties
- Support inventory management tasks including planogram (POG) maintenance, truck receiving and storage, cycle and shoot counts, and back stock organization.
- Maintain high standards of store cleanliness, including floors, restrooms, product facing, dusting and lot areas.
Skills and Attributes Required for Success
- Friendly and clear communication style.
- Proficiency in locating and restocking automotive parts efficiently.
- Strong safety awareness and adherence to protocols.
- Competency with inventory management systems and store operational equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of parts and automotive systems such as suspension, brakes, electronics, and exhaust components.
- Experience using parts lookup systems and point-of-sale (POS) technology.
- Capacity to provide advanced recommendations on solutions, projects, and product quality to meet customer needs.
Essential Job Skills and Qualifications
- Working understanding of automotive mechanical and electronic systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English to foster positive customer and team relationships.
- Ability to interpret safety guidelines, operational manuals, parts catalogs, and procedural documents accurately.
- Capability to follow detailed instructions through various formats including written, verbal, and diagrams.
- Successful completion of the Parts Knowledge Assessment is required.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across different units of measure.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
Physical Requirements
The role involves frequent walking or standing. Employees must be capable of talking and hearing clearly, using hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, reaching, balancing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, or crawling. Frequent lifting/moving up to 50 lbs and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs is required. Vision demands include close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
Mostly indoor activities with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The ambient noise level is generally moderate.
Compensation Details
The expected hourly pay ranges from 17.95 CAD to 21.55 CAD depending on location, experience in retail or automotive sectors, educational background, leadership experience, and shift considerations.
