Position Summary

The City of Victoria is seeking two Parking Ambassadors to join the Finance Department. This full-time role operates on a 35-hour workweek, Sunday to Thursday, with a flexible working arrangement allowing for bi-weekly flex days off by working additional hours daily. The position pays $33.59 per hour and is part of CUPE Local 50.

Core Responsibilities

  • Act as a positive representative of the City of Victoria to visitors and drivers in downtown areas.
  • Deliver proactive customer service by providing directions and information regarding City services to enhance the public and tourism experience.
  • Enforce parking bylaws through education or issuing tickets when necessary, focusing on maintaining courteous service.
  • Monitor various parking zones including pay parking, meters, loading zones, short-term spaces, tow routes, passenger zones, and residential areas based on complaints.
  • Document parking violations thoroughly using notes and photographs when issuing tickets.
  • Handle questions related to parking policies and general city inquiries professionally and courteously.
  • Manage public complaints regarding illegal parking, educate on parking technology, and suggest alternative parking solutions.
  • Respond to parking-related phone inquiries promptly and respectfully.
  • Identify community concerns such as full garbage cans, vandalism, or street cleaning needs using handheld devices and report to supervisors.
  • Report any mechanical or maintenance issues and relay departmental information as needed.
  • Recognize situations that require bylaw or police intervention without engaging escalating conflicts; report such incidents to supervisors.
  • Perform other relevant duties as qualified.
