Role Overview
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service at HMP Erlestoke as an Operational Support Grade (OSG). This position involves being an integral part of the daily operation in a busy prison environment. The role combines administrative duties with physical activities including security checks, managing deliveries, supervision of visitors, and monitoring communication and surveillance systems throughout the facility.
Core Responsibilities
- Contribute to security by conducting searches and gate checks.
- Manage incoming deliveries efficiently and securely.
- Supervise visitors ensuring compliance with prison regulations.
- Monitor telephone calls and CCTV for safety and security purposes.
- Undertake tasks involving physical exertion such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles within the prison grounds.
- Work various shifts, including nights and weekends, ensuring continuous operations.
Candidate Profile
No formal qualifications are necessary; however, excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential for this dynamic role. The position demands sound judgment, common sense, and the willingness to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
