Overview
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service as an Operational Support Grade at HMP Bullingdon, Banbury. This role plays an essential part in ensuring the smooth daily operation of a busy prison by engaging in a diverse set of duties combining desk work with active physical responsibilities.
Key Duties
- Conduct security checks and searches at prison entry points.
- Manage deliveries and supervise visitor access.
- Monitor telephone communications and CCTV surveillance.
- Support the escort of vehicles within the prison grounds involving walking and carrying tasks.
Candidate Profile
An ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and maintain composure under pressure. Good judgment, common sense, and a collaborative mindset are crucial. No formal qualifications are necessary, and prior direct prisoner contact is minimal but possible depending on prison requirements.
Working Conditions
The position requires working varied shifts including nights and weekends. Travel to work is essential; a full UK driving license including category D1 is mandatory, enabling driving of vehicles with up to 16 passenger seats and trailers within prescribed limits. Own transport is advantageous due to limited public transit options in the rural location.
