Role Purpose
The Mechanical Technician is primarily responsible for the upkeep and reliable operation of critical plant systems, machinery, as well as building and facility equipment at the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor plant utility equipment including Boilers, Reverse Osmosis (RO) units, Distillers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, and Air Compressors.
- Perform moderate troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on mechanical systems and plant equipment according to training and established procedures.
- Assess machine conditions during operation, and develop preventive maintenance schedules to avoid breakdowns.
- Ensure utility machines are kept clean and well maintained according to company procedures to guarantee optimal functioning.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance for all plant and utility equipment regularly.
- Lead and oversee maintenance activities on building components and non-productive company equipment.
- Supervise necessary workshop tasks that support both preventive and corrective maintenance plans for equipment.
- Provide refresher training to the maintenance team on plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), corporate specifications for utility machine operation, daily water routine analysis, critical system functionality, and local Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Perform daily mechanical upkeep on utility machines and maintain accurate logs and documentation compliant with GMP and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) standards.
- Promote total employee involvement with focus on Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), adhering to Facility Best Safety Practices (BSPs) and ensuring safe operation and maintenance of workshop and plant equipment.
Educational Qualifications
A Diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
Experience Required
Candidates must have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance within pharmaceutical, food, or dairy industries.
