Role overview

The Manager – Business Process Development serves as the business-facing process excellence partner for designated lines of business, functions, and transformation priorities. In this role, you will collaborate with business teams and specialist groups across P&Q / Excellence, AI, Digital, Data, and Transformation to uncover operational challenges, shape improvement opportunities, and help design processes that are clear, efficient, and scalable.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the main business process excellence contact for assigned lines of business, functions, and relevant AI or transformation initiatives.
  • Work with P&Q / Excellence teams to identify operational bottlenecks, improvement opportunities, and process capability gaps.
  • Support early-stage problem definition, scope setting, and prioritization of process excellence work.
  • Differentiate between short-term improvements, cross-functional redesign requirements, and broader enterprise process issues.
  • Conduct or support structured process diagnostics, deep-dives into pain points, root cause analysis, and current-state assessments.
  • Facilitate process redesign workshops with subject matter experts and stakeholders across functions.
  • Develop future-state process designs, operating model options, handoff models, and practical improvement recommendations.
  • Use Lean methods, structured problem-solving, and business process improvement techniques to simplify and optimize ways of working.
  • Partner with AI, Digital, Data, Product, and Transformation teams to evaluate process readiness for priority initiatives.
  • Translate AI and digital use cases into process impacts, role changes, exception handling paths, and operational requirements.
  • Support process views needed for solution design, user acceptance testing preparation, implementation planning, and adoption.
  • Help prevent automation or AI solutions from being applied to unclear, fragmented, or inefficient processes.
  • Coordinate with the BPD Process Architecture / Enterprise Process Library team to ensure redesigned processes align with architecture and documentation standards.
  • Make sure process outputs are suitable for publication and upkeep in the Enterprise Process Library.
  • Support business areas in keeping process documentation accurate, current, and aligned with approved standards.
  • Coach P&Q / Excellence teams in structured problem solving, process mapping, and improvement methods.
  • Contribute to building local process excellence capability by transferring tools, templates, and practical working methods.
  • Support P&Q teams on lower-complexity improvements and escalate higher-complexity or cross-functional matters through the BPE model.
  • Promote consistent process excellence practices across the assigned business areas.
  • Build strong working relationships with business, function, and transformation stakeholders.
  • Prepare process narratives, decision papers, and executive-ready summaries for senior stakeholders.
  • Present process findings and recommendations in a practical, business-friendly way.
  • Coordinate alignment across business, P&Q, AI, Digital, Data, T&D, and Transformation teams wherever process work overlaps.

Qualifications and experience

A bachelor’s degree is required in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, Technology, or a related discipline. A master’s degree is preferred.

The role calls for 7 to 10+ years of experience in business process improvement, operational excellence, transformation, business analysis, consulting, or a related field. Experience in process redesign, Lean / Six Sigma, business process management, or operating model design is expected. Prior work with cross-functional stakeholders in complex organizations is important. Exposure to insurance, financial services, healthcare operations, digital transformation, or AI-enabled business change is preferred. Experience working with senior stakeholders and converting operational issues into structured improvement recommendations is also valued.
