Job description

About the Role

Flight Operations is central to Emirates' aviation excellence, coordinating skilled pilots and dedicated support teams to ensure every flight runs safely and efficiently. This role focuses on maintaining flight safety, regulatory compliance, crafting thorough flight plans, evaluating airport logistics, and mastering navigation to deliver seamless flight operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and determine optimal routes and flight altitudes using economic (including overflight fees), meteorological, safety, legal, and company criteria. Negotiate tactical 'User Preferred Routes' with relevant Air Traffic Control authorities.
  • Calculate and manage fuel requirements accounting for economic, weather, and safety parameters.
  • Select and verify take-off, destination, enroute, alternate, and ETOPS (Extended Twin Operations) diversion airports as mandated by regulations and company policies. Perform ETOPS diversion and Equal Time Point (ETP) analyses accordingly.
  • Calculate take-off and landing performance along with legal maximum weights. Collaborate with Operations Control, cargo, and load teams to evaluate impacts on payload and performance penalties and optimize commercial payload by adjusting route, speed, and altitude within legal limits.
  • Prepare, review, and sign Flight Releases to comply with legal and company directives. File ATC flight plans and ensure timely briefing documentation delivery to crews at Dubai and all other stations.
  • Proactively manage potential delays by negotiating airport and airway slots with governmental agencies internationally.
  • Continuously monitor active flights until safe landing, ensuring operations remain within safety envelopes considering weather, technical issues, airport access, traffic, and security threats.
  • Provide contingency plans and liaise with ATC, engineering, station staff, and flight crew to resolve operational deviations and support flight crews in decision-making and troubleshooting.
  • Assist the Dispatch Duty Manager during service disruptions.
  • Conduct periodic quality checks on General Handling Agent dispatch and briefing services at outstations during Route Familiarization Flights.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Possession of a GCAA dispatch license with at least one year of active usage of the license's privileges;
  • Or an ICAO dispatch license recognized by GCAA, accompanied by a license verification letter and minimum three years of documented practical experience;
  • Or, if no license is available or required (e.g., in EASA region), at least five years’ verified experience as a dispatcher for a major airline.
  • Proficient in computerized Flight Planning software;
  • Proficient in computerized Flight Watch systems.
