Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Health Officer, the Librarian role involves delivering expert library and information management services in support of the mission of Lewis and Clark Public Health. The position enhances internal methods for organizing, managing, sharing, and archiving information; builds staff capability to communicate and engage effectively with the community through accessible and trustworthy information; and applies best practices and current research to promote evidence-based decisions and improve public health outcomes. This position is temporary for one year, funded by the Sewell Family Foundation.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement staff-informed procedures to enhance internal communication through platforms such as SharePoint and Teams.
- Design and enforce a records retention policy for organizing and archiving both physical and electronic materials within the department.
- Research and construct a systematic approach to maintain and regularly update lists of community medical and social service providers to improve outreach efforts.
- Assist in revising public health educational materials ensuring compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
- Study how county residents obtain health information to better tailor communication strategies.
- Build and nurture collaborative partnerships with local libraries.
- Explore the concept of medical libraries and assess potential for public health to offer similar services.
- Create mechanisms to share best practice research among staff to enhance their effectiveness.
- Contribute to community outreach initiatives and related projects.
- Carry out all duties in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will typically possess a master's degree in Library and Information Sciences or equivalent education and experience. The role requires familiarity with county and state regulations, departmental policies, and community health resources. Skills include information gathering, problem-solving, and managing databases and communication networks to support health education programs.

- Proficiency with computer systems and software including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Capability to conduct research and present findings clearly.
- Ability to develop and implement quality control procedures for research.
