Job description

Role Summary

Beach Energy, an ASX-listed company, is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor based in New Plymouth, New Zealand, to contribute to the safety, reliability, and sustainability of its New Zealand operations, including the Kupe Natural Gas Processing Plant, offshore wellhead platform, and Omata Tank Farm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver H&S technical guidance and support at the Kupe Gas Plant and associated offshore and tank farm sites.
  • Assist in implementing and assuring compliance with Beach Energy's Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS).
  • Lead ICAM incident investigations within New Zealand and Australia as necessary.
  • Conduct health and safety audits and assurance reviews across operational sites and contractor engagements.
  • Serve as the H&S lead for significant maintenance shutdowns and operational projects.
  • Monitor and report on H&S metrics to leadership, joint venture partners, and regulators.
  • Support contractor pre-qualification, tender evaluations, and ongoing contract assurance.
  • Implement health monitoring, occupational hygiene, and safety campaign programs across assets.
  • Participate in HAZID and HAZOP workshops and support emergency management efforts.
  • Contribute to operational training, competency development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced health and safety professional with a strong background in oil and gas or other high-risk industries, demonstrating practical safety leadership and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels to cultivate safer work environments.

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand health and safety laws, regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Proven experience leading incident investigations and implementing effective corrective measures.
  • Demonstrated leadership with capability to influence positive safety culture changes.
  • Strong grasp of risk management and decision-making based on risk evaluations.
  • Current driver’s licence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lead Auditor certifications in ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
  • ICAM Lead Investigator accreditation.
  • Offshore operational experience with current BOSIET or FOET certification.
