Job description
Position Overview
This role involves performing expert and safe blood and specimen collection primarily through home visits. The focus is on delivering excellent phlebotomy services to patients of all ages and medical situations while maintaining sample quality, proper identification, and timely delivery to the laboratory. The role contributes to expanding business reach by improving patient access and experience via efficient home healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out venipuncture and other specimen collection techniques proficiently across all age groups including newborns, children, adults, elderly, and clinically complex patients.
- Conduct home-based sample collection adhering to scheduled assignments and operational criteria.
- Verify accurate patient identification and provide appropriate preparation and post-collection care using established procedures.
- Safeguard sample integrity throughout collection, handling, storage, and transportation stages to the lab.
- Follow infection control, safety, and biohazard protocols during all procedures.
- Offer professional and respectful patient care during home visits, ensuring a positive interaction.
- Maintain precise documentation, labeling, and chain of custody for all collected specimens.
- Collaborate closely with laboratory personnel to guarantee prompt specimen delivery.
- Use personal vehicle for home visits when necessary; compensation provided per company guidelines.
- Ensure proper care, maintenance, and cleanliness of phlebotomy tools and consumables.
- Report any incidents, patient issues, or complications promptly to the supervisor.
- Support growth initiatives by upholding high service quality and patient satisfaction.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Additional Information
- Work is fully outdoors following assigned home collection schedules.
- Workweek consists of 6 working days and 1 day off.
- Work shifts include 8 net working hours, arranged by departmental management.
- Any home collection performed beyond regular hours qualifies as overtime and will be paid per company policy.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Applied Medical Sciences or equivalent.
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum 1 to 2 years of phlebotomy experience, ideally including home sample collection.
- Familiarity with office software and Health Information Systems.
- Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Possession of a valid driving license.
