About Awanui Labs and the Role

Awanui Labs Taranaki provides high-quality diagnostic pathology services to the local community, healthcare professionals, and patients, serving approximately 125,000 people. It operates under the Awanui Group, a healthcare provider formerly known as Asia Pacific Healthcare Group, dedicated to delivering exceptional care.

We seek a dedicated Laboratory Manager to lead our Taranaki facility and ensure the provision of efficient diagnostic services. Reporting closely to the General Manager and collaborating with regional teams, you will oversee daily laboratory operations, foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement, and develop the team to excel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily laboratory functions, ensuring service quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support, lead, and nurture the laboratory team to provide outstanding service delivery.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant accreditation, quality standards, contracts, and health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and regional personnel to meet operational objectives and drive ongoing improvements.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at enhancing laboratory services and optimizing processes.
  • Promote a workplace culture prioritizing safety, teamwork, innovation, and professional growth.

Candidate Profile

  • Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand is required; possession or renewal of an Annual Practising Certificate (APC) is preferred.
  • Tertiary education in clinical sciences, scientific disciplines, or health-related fields.
  • Experience in diagnostic laboratory environments, familiar with laboratory operations, quality control systems, and accreditation compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Proficiency in managing laboratory operations, resources, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong dedication to quality assurance, patient-centered care, workplace health and safety, and excellent service.
  • Effective communication, problem-solving abilities, and relationship management skills.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
