Position Overview
Protingent Staffing is seeking a detailed-oriented Inventory Analyst for a contract role based in Houston, TX, supporting our client's global supply chain operations. The position centers on managing supply, inventory, and purchasing activities to maintain material availability and ensure smooth procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate regular reports tracking inventory metrics including levels, excess & obsolete stock, and shortages across worldwide hubs.
- Monitor inventory targets such as Days on Hand (DOH), inventory turns, and safety stock; flag deviations to senior leadership.
- Assess supply plans and execute site-to-site inventory adjustments before preparing excess and obsolete reports.
- Maintain and update dashboards and data repositories using Excel and BI tools for accurate, timely information dissemination.
- Conduct root cause investigations of inventory discrepancies such as excesses, shortages, and slow-moving items.
- Support monthly inventory assessments by providing detailed data and highlighting significant changes.
- Contribute data inputs to Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and supply review meetings, addressing inventory status, risks, and gaps.
- Monitor and report vital metrics such as inventory turnover, service levels, and stock aging.
- Manage the entire purchase order lifecycle, creating and releasing orders per planning signals, and ensuring on-time supplier deliveries through tracking and expediting where required.
- Update purchase order data accurately within ERP systems, resolving any delivery or quantity issues through effective communication with suppliers and internal teams.
- Collaborate with Planning, Logistics, Warehouse, and Finance teams to facilitate smooth material flows, coordinate inbound shipments, and assist with cost variance and invoice issue resolution.
- Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures related to inventory and purchasing, proactively identify data or process issues, and engage management for resolutions while supporting process improvements and data clean-up initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years’ professional experience in supply chain, purchasing, or inventory analysis, including internships.
- Proficiency with Excel functions including pivot tables, lookups, and basic data analysis.
- Experience using ERP software such as SAP is preferred.
- Fundamental knowledge of supply chain and inventory concepts like lead times, safety stock, and turnover rates.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to accurately execute repeatable processes.
- Strong communication skills for collaborative engagement with internal departments and external suppliers.
- Capacity to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and complete tasks reliably.
