Role overview

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is hiring an Imaging Examiner in Topeka, KS. This full-time onsite role focuses on accurately scanning, digitizing, organizing, and filing documents while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and following established document-sequencing patterns. The scheduled hours are 4:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

What you'll do

• Prepare documents before they are scanned.
• Identify, sort, and organize documents accurately.
• Carry out indexing by assigning key values so files are stored correctly.
• Upload claim documents and attachments captured by imaging systems into the mainframe.
• Perform routine maintenance on scanning equipment.
• Route documents to the correct departments after processing.
• Work with system support teams when testing new procedures, processes, and software updates.
• Complete quality checks and take responsibility for the work completed.
• Work both independently and with others to meet department standards.

What you need

• Strong customer service, organization, and time management skills.
• Comfort working alone as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to adjust to frequent changes in processes and procedures.
• Critical-thinking skills and a flexible, problem-solving mindset.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience with imaging software is preferred.
• Previous work with microfilm is preferred.

Physical requirements

• Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling are part of the role.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs may be required.
• You must be able to use standard office equipment, including a computer and phone.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $18.81 to $23.50 per hour. This is a non-exempt Grade 10 role. The employer notes that the range is a good-faith estimate and that final offers may vary depending on the candidate's skills, education, experience, and training.
