Job Overview
This role involves managing human resource functions for eighteen units and a regional office in Region III. The specialist supports employees by addressing inquiries concerning pay, time management, benefits, and employment matters within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Typical duties include responding to calls and emails, maintaining personnel records, and conducting site visits to regional HR offices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to employees on questions related to time, pay, benefits, and other employment issues.
- Handle communications via phone and email effectively to support employee needs.
- Maintain and organize employee files ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Perform site visits to various HR offices within the region to oversee HR operations.
- Oversee HR operations and processes across assigned units and regional office.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of five years experience in areas such as customer service, human resources, clerical work, secretarial tasks, administrative support, public administration, financial operations, auditing, or technical program assistance.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and expertise in dispute resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of experience supervising employees.
- Thorough understanding of human resources principles and practices.
Additional Information
- Retiree salary is set at 2.5% below the advertised salary rate.
- The role involves no overnight travel but may require day trips.
- Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for external candidates.
- The position does not require hazardous duty or participation in a pre-service training academy.
