Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified Health and Safety Inspector to be part of our Project and Construction Management team based in Riyadh within the Infrastructure Division. This role focuses on civil engineering and transportation-related projects, including roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban settings.

Primary Duties

  • Perform daily site inspections to ensure adherence to the HSE Plan, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Supervise contractor compliance with permit-to-work systems covering confined spaces, hot works, lifting, and excavation activities.
  • Spot and report unsafe conditions and behaviours; enforce corrective measures accordingly.
  • Confirm correct usage, storage, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) by workers and visitors.
  • Maintain site cleanliness, emergency routes, signage, and traffic controls at all times.
  • Assist in incident and near-miss investigations, documenting findings under guidance from the HSE Engineer.
  • Ensure environmental compliance regarding waste management, dust, noise, and spill control.
  • Participate actively in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and awareness initiatives to foster a positive safety culture.
  • Check qualifications and certifications of key personnel such as equipment operators, riggers, and scaffolders.
  • Keep detailed and prompt records including HSE logs, inspection reports, observations, and photographs.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or an equivalent field.
  • Professional HSE credentials (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, IOSH) are advantageous.
  • More than seven years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local regulations and international standards such as ISO 45001, OSHA, NFPA, and environmental statutes.
  • Experienced in executing risk assessments, preparing method statements, managing work permits, emergency responses, and enforcing construction safety standards.
  • Proficient in English, with Arabic being a beneficial additional language.
  • Strong communication abilities, report writing competence, teamwork, problem-solving skills, autonomy, flexibility, and technical accuracy.
  • Willing to work within a multinational environmental organization.

Additional Requirements

  • If not a Saudi national, must have a transferable Iqama.
  • Must reside in Riyadh.
  • Possession of a valid Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) membership.
