GSE Apprentice

About the Role

Executive Aviation is seeking a dedicated full-time GSE Apprentice based at Halifax Airport to service and maintain Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This position involves working independently while reporting to the on-site GSE Technician. The apprentice will handle all Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI), prioritize, diagnose, and repair GSE or vehicle issues across the YHZ base and other locations as required. Travel for maintenance or PMIs within the network and on-call duties are part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of work equipment.
• Assess parts for potential reuse, repair, or replacement.
• Utilize various hand and power tools effectively.
• Operate equipment such as overhead/mobile cranes and forklifts to support tasks.
• Investigate equipment malfunctions and implement corrective measures to reduce operational downtime.
• Adapt to new procedures, tools, materials, and processes as required.
• Prepare and maintain detailed records including maintenance logs and timesheets.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and the use of protective gear.
• Diagnose equipment issues, determine necessary repairs, and prioritize these with guidance from the lead technician.
• Be available for on-call duties and legally able to travel internationally if needed.

Requirements

• Completed coursework related to 310s or 310t Mechanic certification.
• Availability for on-call shifts.
• Physical capability to stand, lift (up to 70lbs/32kgs), bend, crouch, kneel, push, and pull for extended periods.
• Willingness to work outdoors under various weather conditions.
• Ability to meet employment conditions including holding a Transport Canada Restricted Area pass, passing a criminal background check, and possessing a valid driver's license.
