About the Role
The Group Tax Manager at Crescent Petroleum is responsible for managing the tax reporting and compliance across various jurisdictions, primarily focusing on UAE and Iraq tax regulations. This role involves developing comprehensive tax strategies, preparing tax returns, handling audits, and advising on tax matters to maximize the Group's tax efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee tax compliance and reporting ensuring adherence to Corporate Tax, Withholding Tax, and VAT regulations in UAE and Iraq.
- Maintain compliance tracking systems, audit management, and coordinate monthly tax payments.
- Collaborate with accounting, finance, and legal departments for strategic tax planning and operational compliance.
- Provide tax advice on business transactions, support corporate restructuring, and contribute tax perspectives for bid preparations.
- Regularly update tax policies and processes while monitoring legislative changes to mitigate tax risks through strong internal controls.
- Ensure accurate posting of current and deferred taxes in ERP systems and coordinate group tax reporting with authorities and auditors.
- Maintain transfer pricing documentation with annual updates and support entity consolidation, acquisitions, and restructuring initiatives.
- Monitor VAT compliance by reviewing accounting records, ensuring timely VAT return submissions, and managing VAT-related queries with authorities.
- Identify and correct data discrepancies, keep organized records, and uphold confidentiality of financial information.
- Report to the Senior Director of Accounting & Reporting, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and build strong collaborative relationships.
- Engage in continuous professional development including workshops, publications, and pursuing relevant accounting certifications.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least 8 to 10 years of experience in taxation roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Professional certification such as CA or ACCA.
- In-depth knowledge of UAE Economic Substance Regulations (ESR), VAT, Corporate Tax, and IFRS standards.
- Experience with SAP S4/HANA systems preferred; familiarity with Power BI is advantageous.
- Strong analytical capabilities to interpret complex tax legislation and regulations.
