Group Capex Programme Lead

Role Overview

As the Group Capex Programme Lead, you will spearhead the governance and oversight of Finsbury Food Group's capital investment portfolio. Your responsibility will encompass prioritising projects aligned with strategic goals and overseeing performance metrics including budget adherence, milestone completion, risk mitigation, and benefit realisation. You will keep senior executives well-informed through transparent reporting and anticipate challenges proactively.

Key Duties

• Formulate and maintain the Group's long-range capital investment strategy focusing on areas such as automation, asset renewal, infrastructure upgrades, sustainability, energy efficiency, and manufacturing enhancement.
• Collaborate closely with site engineering and business leadership to ensure investments bolster operational efficiency, growth prospects, regulatory compliance, and cost savings.
• Standardise capital project management approaches across the organisation by implementing strong governance frameworks, practical project management processes, and stage-gate controls.
• Ensure adherence to rigorous safety, food safety, legal, contractor, and compliance standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Partner with Finance, Procurement, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Technical teams and site leaders to maintain financial robustness and strategic alignment of projects.
• Contribute engineering expertise early in New Product Innovation initiatives to assess infrastructure and investment needs.
• Guide and mentor project managers and engineering staff to foster uniformity, responsibility, and competence in project execution.

Candidate Profile

• Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, or related fields.
• Preferably holds a formal project management certification.
• Extensive experience managing capital projects or programmes, particularly within manufacturing, FMCG, or food production sectors.
• Demonstrated capability leading multi-site capital investment initiatives and governance structures.
• Proficient in project management disciplines including governance, risk management, cost oversight, scheduling, and benefit realisation.
• Commercially savvy with experience preparing business cases and assessing investment propositions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence effectively across organizational levels.
• Proven ability collaborating with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and Supply Chain.
• Skilled in interpreting complex project data to generate strategic business insights.
• Exceptional organisational skills to handle multiple projects within a varied capital portfolio.
• Committed to continuous improvement, coaching team members, and enforcing consistent practices.
• Willing to travel frequently among Finsbury manufacturing locations.
