Department Overview

The Amputee Rehabilitation Service, housed at Caulfield Hospital, specializes in rehabilitative care for clients with limb loss. The service provides both inpatient and outpatient assessments and evaluations, leading to the design and manufacture of custom prosthetic devices. The service supports clients of the Victorian Artificial Limb Program (VALP), Veterans Affairs, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and other compensable bodies. Role Summary

We seek a committed, proficient Grade 2 Prosthetist to join our team at Caulfield Hospital in a parental leave cover capacity, from September 7, 2026, to May 21, 2027. This full-time role involves an average of 80 working hours per fortnight plus a monthly accrued day off. The role entails managing a diverse caseload of prosthetic patients, primarily from VALP and NDIS programs, and collaborating closely with the prosthetic department team and allied health professionals to uphold exemplary clinical standards and patient care.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics
  • Membership with the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association
  • Postgraduate clinical experience demonstrating ability to manage patients with limb deficiencies
  • Capability to independently run a clinic at Golf Links Road Rehabilitation Centre
  • Experience in supervising staff and delegating technical responsibilities
  • Knowledge of public healthcare funding and system operations
  • Compliance with quality assurance protocols for prosthetic and orthotic device manufacturing
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License
