Position Overview

We are looking to employ skilled General Metal Fabricators / Welders on a full-time basis in Northern Queensland, particularly in the Whitsunday region. This practical role involves fabricating, assembling, repairing, and welding metal parts and structural components to aid construction, manufacturing, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Perform general metal fabrication, welding, assembly, and repair activities according to project requirements.
Interpret workshop drawings, measurements, and technical instructions with accuracy.
Cut, shape, join, and finish metals using relevant fabrication and welding methods.
Execute welding processes such as MIG, TIG, stick, or others as dictated by tasks.
Create and mend structural steel items like frames, brackets, and supports.
Inspect finished work ensuring precision, structural soundness, and adherence to quality standards.
Operate fabrication machinery, tools, and workshop equipment with safety and efficiency.
Carry out regular maintenance on tools, welding gear, and workspace.
Identify any material defects, potential safety hazards, or equipment issues promptly and report them.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work environment.
Assist with on-site installation and fieldwork as required to support project completion.

Role Requirements

Proven experience as a Metal Fabricator, Welder, or a similar trade.
Trade qualifications in metal fabrication, engineering, welding, or related disciplines are highly preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of welding techniques, metal fabrication processes, and tools.
Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings and working to exact measurements.
Strong focus on detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Awareness of workplace safety standards and safe material handling practices.
White Card certification mandatory for site work.
Valid driver’s license required.
Additional certifications, experience with workshop machinery, or background in construction sites is advantageous.
Experience in residential, civil, structural, or modular construction projects is a plus.
