Role summary

This opportunity is based at a Dexterra camp facility. The usual schedule is 2 weeks on followed by 2 weeks off, with 11-hour shifts each day. Transportation to the site is arranged from a pickup point. This posting is for future openings at the Moosonee, Ontario project.

What the role involves

The General Helper supports kitchen operations and upkeep by cleaning, sanitizing, and helping maintain kitchen tools, equipment, pots, dishes, and designated food service areas.

  • Clean, scrub, wash, and sanitize assigned kitchen and dining spaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dining room floors and tables.
  • Wash refrigerators, ovens, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Clean pots, dishes, glasses, cups, and similar items after meals and whenever needed.
  • Carry out deep-cleaning tasks when required.
  • Replenish and manage rotation of desserts, sandwiches, beverages, and condiments.
  • Help receive, unload, and place supplies and stock.
  • Follow health, safety, and quality standards at all times.

Qualifications

Applicants should have at least 6 months of experience in kitchen, catering, food service, hospitality, or a remote lodge setting. Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, are required. A FoodSafe Level I certificate is required; SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is considered an advantage. Candidates should be able to manage multiple priorities and plan their work effectively. They must also be able to score 80% or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test.
