Role snapshot
This is a fixed-term copywriting contract beginning on 13 July 2026 and running through 31 July 2026, with the possibility of extending into further work. The engagement is full-time and outside IR35. The role is based in the London area, with a hybrid arrangement in Egham, Surrey, requiring on-site attendance on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The pay is £350 to £420 per day, depending on experience. Working hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm. The position reports to the Creative Director and calls for at least 2 years of experience.
About the role
Switch Creative is seeking a mid-level copywriter to partner with a well-known global car rental brand. This is a hands-on opportunity to help shape messaging that will be seen by large audiences across campaigns, markets and communication channels.
The work is varied and fast-moving: from creating sharp, attention-grabbing headlines to developing longer brochure and web copy that drives interest and action. The right person will be comfortable changing tone to suit different brand identities while keeping the writing clear, effective and commercially focused.
You will work closely with designers and the Creative Director, contributing ideas that help shape the creative direction from the start and seeing your work delivered live across multiple outputs.
Key responsibilities
- Develop concise and extended copy for display ads, video scripts, websites, brochures and billboard creative.
- Adjust writing style to suit the tone of voice of different international brands.
- Create persuasive content tailored to both consumer and business audiences.
- Partner with designers and the Creative Director to build joined-up campaign concepts.
- Handle several briefs at once while maintaining accuracy, polish and deadline discipline.
- Bring copy ideas and early-stage concepts into the briefing process to help shape campaigns.
- Review, refine and proofread all work carefully so it is accurate, consistent and brand-compliant.
- Keep informed about market trends, audience behaviour and competitor messaging.
Experience and skills required
- Minimum 2 years of professional copywriting experience, preferably in a creative agency or in-house marketing environment.
- Proven ability to write both brief, punchy copy and longer-form content.
- Comfort adapting tone of voice across multiple brands, products or campaigns.
- Strong capability across social, video, digital and print writing formats.
- Ability to write convincingly for both consumer and business audiences.
- Excellent grammar, editing and proofreading skills with a close eye for detail.
- A portfolio that shows range, originality and commercial copywriting strength.
Nice-to-have experience
- Exposure to international markets or work for global brands.
- Experience collaborating with designers within an integrated creative team.
- Working knowledge of SEO and organic search writing.
