Role overview
ST Engineering is looking for a meticulous Finite Element Analyst to support the engineering team in Singapore. The position centers on advanced simulation work to forecast how structures will behave, with strong attention to noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). You will collaborate with senior engineers to help turn conceptual designs into durable, high-performing products.
Key responsibilities
- Create accurate 1D, 2D, and 3D finite element meshes for complex assemblies, making sure the element setup and connectivity are correct.
- Carry out linear static, non-linear, and dynamic structural analyses to check performance against yield and deformation limits.
- Run vibration and dynamics studies such as Frequency Response Function (FRF) assessments, Modal Analysis (SOL 103), and random vibration analysis to evaluate resonance risks and damping needs.
- Review solver outputs, pinpoint stress concentration areas or hot spots, and communicate practical design improvements to the engineering group.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering is required; a Master’s degree with a specialization in noise and vibration is preferred.
- Basic working knowledge of finite element analysis solvers such as Nastran or LS-DYNA is expected, while familiarity with Patran or Femap is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of structural dynamics concepts, including natural frequencies, mode shapes, and harmonic analysis.
- Exposure to fatigue life estimation approaches, such as Coffin-Manson or Morrow mean stress correction methods, is highly desirable.
- Good communication skills are needed to explain complex simulation findings and turn them into clear recommendations for management.
