Finance Director - Procurement and Supply Chain

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in advanced manufacturing, operates a complex, multi-tiered supply chain supporting sophisticated products and stringent customer demands. They are seeking an experienced Finance Director to join their global procurement and supply chain teams, providing strategic finance leadership to influence sourcing decisions, enhance product cost structures, and protect gross margins. This critical leadership role offers high visibility and cross-functional influence involving Procurement, Supply Chain Operations, Engineering, and Business Unit Finance.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary finance representative for global procurement and supply chain teams, shaping category strategy and sourcing choices.
• Deliver financial analysis to guide supplier selection, negotiation, and contracting strategies.
• Ensure sourcing decisions align with overall profitability, margin, and product cost targets.
• Design and advance Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models including cost factors such as direct expenses, logistics, quality, warranty, lead time, and product lifecycle.
• Develop "should-cost" and cost breakdown models to challenge supplier prices and improve negotiation positions.
• Implement supplier cost benchmarking procedures to enhance cost visibility and competitiveness.
• Create and oversee savings methodologies, including defining hard and soft savings, establishing baselines, and validation criteria.
• Establish rigorous tracking and reporting mechanisms for procurement savings, productivity metrics, and cost avoidance.
• Support procurement and supply chain financial planning, forecasting, and performance management cycles.
• Develop executive-level dashboards and reports to monitor savings progress, identify cost drivers, and manage margin risks.
• Strengthen financial controls and governance related to sourcing commitments and benefits realization.
• Quantify financial impacts of supply chain risks such as continuity challenges, dual sourcing strategies, inventory policies, and supplier financial health.
• Partner with operations and procurement teams to balance trade-offs and protect margins amid volatility.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering analytical excellence, effective communication, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Promote a culture centered on accountability, continuous improvement, and impactful business results.

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Accountancy with ACCA and/or CA qualification.
• Over 12 years of progressive finance experience, notably within supply chain, procurement, or operations finance.
• Proven success in supporting large-scale procurement and supply chain functions in manufacturing environments.
• Strong expertise in TCO methodologies, should-cost modeling, savings frameworks, and supplier cost benchmarking.
• Advanced skills in financial modeling and decision support for senior leadership.
• Proficiency with ERP systems like SAP, advanced Excel and modeling capabilities, and familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau; experienced handling large data sets.
• Track record of influencing senior leaders and driving measurable cost and productivity enhancements.
• Demonstrated leadership in building, developing, and motivating finance teams in dynamic settings.
