Who We Are
Notion is a collaborative AI workspace designed to bring teams and agents together to think and work more efficiently. It integrates knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools all in one place to streamline workflows, making work faster and less fragmented. Millions of users including individuals, small teams, and large enterprises rely on Notion for their operational needs.
Our employees, called Notinos, are integral to realizing this vision of the future of work. We focus on craftsmanship and building lasting tools with the view that meaningful work remains a fundamentally human endeavor. Instead of merely shipping features, every team strives to redefine how humans collaborate in an AI-driven environment by automating routine tasks and empowering users with smarter tools.
About the Company
Notion aids users in creating elegant tools for all aspects of their work life. In today’s cluttered digital environment, Notion provides a unified platform that consolidates documents, notes, projects, calendars, and emails, enhanced by AI to answer questions and automate tasks. It’s trusted by millions globally, including big names like Toyota, Figma, and OpenAI, for its flexibility and cost-saving benefits.
Our culture emphasizes in-person collaboration with designated in-office days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, known as Anchor Days. Some teams or roles may require additional in-office presence.
Role Overview
To continue scaling, we need clarity about where we invest effectively. As the main finance partner to our Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience teams, you'll support investment decisions and ensure funds are allocated for maximum impact. Your role balances advocating for these teams' success and upholding financial discipline to ensure high returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the chief strategic finance advisor to the Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Product Officer for Go-to-Market (GTM) planning, forecasting, and reporting, establishing trusted partnerships and proactively sharing insights, risks, and opportunities.
- Create and optimize scalable reporting and analytical tools (such as LTV/CAC and payback models) to enhance transparency and accelerate decision-making, guiding both tactical and strategic execution.
- Collaborate closely with GTM teams to grasp their strategies, validate resource needs, and empower effective budget tradeoffs for optimal outcomes.
- Work with the Customer Experience team to understand staffing strategies and ensure scalable, cost-efficient support operations.
- Prepare clear, executive-level presentations for company leadership and board meetings, simplifying complex financial and operational data into digestible narratives.
- Coordinate with Accounting to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, explain variances, and convert results into actionable guidance for executives and team leads.
- Leverage AI and automation to improve planning, forecasting accuracy, workflow efficiency, and interdepartmental coordination.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 8 years in FP&A, strategic finance, investment banking, accounting, private equity, or a related combination, with direct FP&A experience supporting sales and marketing functions preferred.
- Strong analytical aptitude for both financial and operational metrics, with high proficiency in Excel and financial modeling (advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills).
- Excellent ability to link financial outcomes with operational drivers in ambiguous scenarios.
- Outstanding communication skills with an executive presence, capable of influencing leadership through structured storytelling and clear recommendations.
- Detail-oriented, committed to accuracy, and driven by a passion for uncovering the truth.
- Collaborative mindset with low ego and a hunger to learn, able to align cross-functional teams towards the best results.
- Familiarity with AI tools like Claude Code, Gemini, or Codex is advantageous; openness to adopting AI for smarter workflows is important.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in both B2B and B2C marketing environments is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of departmental headcount planning processes.
Equal Opportunity and Inclusion
We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and encourage applications even if some qualifications aren’t perfectly matched. We are committed to an inclusive workplace and do not discriminate on any legally protected bases. Reasonable accommodations are available upon request to support applicants with disabilities.
Compensation
We offer competitive salaries, equity, and benefits. For San Francisco-based roles, the estimated base salary ranges from $185,000 to $215,000 annually, influenced by location, role scope, and individual experience.
Work Culture and AI Philosophy
Notion expects all employees to be intellectually curious, inventive, and engaged with AI as a collaborative tool rather than just a novelty. While deep AI expertise is not required here, AI fluency can be vital for other roles. We value those who use AI to improve their thinking and make others’ work more impactful.
