About The Role
The City of Belleville seeks sixteen temporary part-time Facilities Attendants to join the Community Services Department - Facilities Division, providing essential support for the upkeep and smooth running of the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre and other city facilities located at 265 Cannifton Road, Belleville, ON.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver prompt and precise information to Facilities Operations Supervisors and follow their instructions.
- Exercise sound judgment prioritizing safety and personal conduct in facility maintenance and health protocols.
- Carry out tasks using established procedures, escalating issues to supervisors when needed.
- Foster positive public relations that enhance the City of Belleville's reputation.
- Perform ice maintenance and custodial duties, including bathroom cleaning, mopping, dusting, sweeping, garbage collection, and snow and ice removal from entrances and ice surfaces.
- Assist with setting up meeting rooms, common areas, arenas, gyms by arranging staging, chairs, tables, and audio-visual equipment as requested.
- Support user groups operating within the building while fulfilling general duties.
- Maintain professional and effective communication with staff, tenants, contractors, and the public, upholding high customer service standards.
- Employ principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion to ensure fairness, representation, and accessibility in all work aspects.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum requirement: currently pursuing or completed high school diploma.
- Candidates must provide their own safety boots.
- Pass a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening before starting.
- Entry-level experience preferred, ideally in rink environments or ice maintenance.
- Experience in pool maintenance, custodial work, and operating floor machines or swing buffers is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities coupled with effective communication skills.
- Good organization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities efficiently.
Additional Information
- Work hours are varied and assigned on a need basis.
- Employee group is part of the Union - CUPE.
- Hourly wage is $18.53 plus applicable shift premiums.
