Overview
Ajanta Pharma Ltd is seeking an Equity Analyst to join their investment research team in Andheri, Mumbai. This full-time position requires a candidate with strong expertise in pharmaceutical sector equity research, financial modelling, and valuation techniques. The role demands thorough analysis to identify promising investment opportunities and support decision-making processes through detailed research and insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform extensive fundamental analysis of publicly listed pharmaceutical companies, including financial statement evaluation, industry trends, and valuation models such as DCF, comparable companies, and sum-of-the-parts.
- Assess the quality of management teams and develop clear, actionable investment recommendations within a defined risk and reward framework.
- Construct and regularly update intricate financial models, incorporating scenario and sensitivity testing to reflect evolving market conditions.
- Continuously monitor portfolio assets by reviewing quarterly earnings, company announcements, management commentary, and critical developments to confirm or revise investment theses.
- Keep informed of macroeconomic, regulatory, industry, and competitive changes impacting the pharmaceutical sector and broader equity markets.
- Prepare comprehensive investment notes, research reports, presentations, and documents for investment committees.
- Engage with corporate management, sell-side analysts, industry specialists, and other market stakeholders to collect relevant insights.
- Maintain and upgrade internal research tools including databases, financial models, trackers, and knowledge bases.
- Provide timely research support and analytical inputs to portfolio managers and senior investment staff.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of Chartered Accountant (CA) and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.
- Between five and seven years of experience in equity research, investment analysis, asset management, portfolio management services, mutual funds, or similar financial sectors.
- Solid understanding of accounting, financial statements, valuation methodologies, and capital market operations.
- Prior experience specializing in pharmaceuticals or healthcare sector is highly preferred.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modelling techniques.
- Strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing abilities.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, research-focused environment.
