Role Summary

This position involves operating a range of light, medium, and some heavy equipment, as well as light- to heavy-duty trucks. The role supports construction, operations, maintenance, and material control activities, and may also include barrier equipment upkeep.

Key Duties

The operator may work with equipment such as single-axle and dual-axle dump trucks, loaders, rollers, compactors, tractors, sprayers, sweepers, plows, forklifts, backhoes, rough terrain cargo handlers, and aviation ground support equipment. Responsibilities can also include checking equipment condition, reporting major mechanical problems, carrying out minor or emergency repairs when appropriate, training less experienced workers, performing manual labor, and supplying data to automated information systems.

Work must be carried out in line with applicable military transportation, technical, commercial, theater, host-nation, and regulatory requirements, including standards related to transport documentation, inventory tracing, and data exchange. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with at least 2 years of related experience. The role calls for the technical knowledge, physical capability, and job skills needed to complete assigned tasks. Candidates must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate level for safety, health, and security compliance. Certification to operate the assigned equipment is required.
