About the role

Junior Achievement of Northeastern New York works to motivate and equip young people with the knowledge and confidence they need to thrive in the economy of today and tomorrow. Its core learning areas include money management, career and workplace readiness, and entrepreneurship, with program content aligned to national and state standards. Through support from educators, community volunteers, and partners, the organization reaches millions of students nationwide and serves more than 13,000 students each year in the Capital Region.

The Education Programs Associate is responsible for managing educational partnerships, delivering program implementation support, and helping evaluate initiatives that build students’ skills and inspiration for future success.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned JA programs, including initiatives such as JA Titan, JA Job Shadow, and JA Finance Park, from early planning through final execution while also supporting the wider education program portfolio.
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with K-12 teachers, school leaders, and community partners to encourage participation in JA programming.
  • Identify, recruit, prepare, and support volunteers, ensuring they understand program goals and feel confident delivering sessions.
  • Manage volunteer scheduling and placement so trained volunteers are matched appropriately with program needs.
  • Provide ongoing encouragement, feedback, materials, and practical resources to teachers and volunteers.
  • Conduct surveys for volunteers and teachers to help strengthen program quality and delivery.
  • Keep detailed and accurate records covering program activity, volunteer service hours, student participation, and outcomes.
  • Support the planning and coordination of JA events as needed.

Qualifications and skills

  • Strong organizational ability with experience or exposure to planning, coordination, and evaluation work.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for working effectively with teachers, administrators, volunteers, students, and community stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of financial literacy concepts and the ability to communicate JA’s mission clearly to educators and volunteers.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel and Google Docs, along with the ability to learn new software tools quickly.
  • A relevant degree in areas such as education, nonprofit management, business, or a similar field is preferred.

Work schedule and location

This role can be set up as either part-time, at about 20 to 25 hours each week, or full-time depending on the selected candidate’s background and preferences. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday during standard business hours, although some tasks may need to be handled outside that window. Because program activity varies by season, the workload is lighter during the summer months.

The position is primarily remote, but it does require regular in-person meetings with staff and education partners. For that reason, only candidates who already live in the Capital Region of New York will be considered.

Compensation and additional information

The pay range for this position is $24 to $32 per hour.

Junior Achievement is committed to creating an inclusive learning environment that is free from bias and supports broader economic opportunity and equity. The organization welcomes K-12 students, volunteers, educators, staff, and partners of all backgrounds and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, age, gender, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected characteristic.
