Position Overview

The Early Intervention Worker will operate within the Finglas Youth Services team on a permanent, full-time basis working 37.5 hours per week. Reporting to the Youth Service Manager, this role focuses on identifying and assisting children aged 8 to 11 who are at risk of becoming involved in criminal or antisocial activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and respond to the needs of young people between 8 and 11 years old at risk of future involvement in offending or antisocial behaviour.
• Establish and nurture positive, trusting relationships with participants both individually and in groups.
• Participate in Youth Diversion Project (YDP) referral assessment and advisory committee meetings.
• Collaborate effectively with the YDP and broader Crosscare teams.
• Engage with various community organisations and agencies to enhance development opportunities for young participants.
• Maintain partnerships with local stakeholders, including An Garda Síochána and community services working with youth.
• Design, execute, and evaluate age-appropriate interventions and outcome-driven case plans aimed at early diversion before further YDP referral age.
• Manage referral processes and maintain accurate records and reports, including contributing to the Annual Plan in conjunction with Gardaí.
• Deliver youth work interventions following the approved YDP plans within the catchment area.
• Support participants in exploring and accessing pathways for sustainable employment, education, and training while combating workplace discrimination and promoting diversity.
• Engage in training and fulfill additional duties as required by Crosscare, IYJS, Gardaí, or project committee to further project goals.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a third-level qualification in Youth Work.
• At least two years of experience working directly with at-risk young people.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team setting.
