Overview
This position involves operating vehicles within a courier company setting. The work location is onsite in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, requiring physical presence without remote work opportunities.
Language and Education
- Proficiency in English is required.
- No formal degree, certificate, or diploma is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Drive cars, vans, and light trucks to pick up and drop off various items and products.
- Deliver excellent customer service with professionalism.
- Communicate effectively with central dispatch and relay information.
- Maintain records of items received and delivered.
- Load and unload goods safely and efficiently.
- Sort packages prior to delivery.
- Follow directions carefully and utilize maps and trip planning tools.
- Document trip details, including vehicle mileage, fuel expenses, and any issues encountered.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before, during, and after trips, ensuring vehicle safety.
Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Class 5/5F/G driver's license for cars, small trucks, and other 2-axle vehicles.
- Experience in local transportation or travel is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
- Completion of criminal record check and driving abstract required.
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Must handle packages weighing up to 23 kg (approximately 50 lbs).
- Adaptability to a fast-paced environment and strong attention to detail are essential.
- Use of personal protective equipment such as steel-toed safety boots and gloves is mandatory.
