About Growth
Growth is a HubSpot Elite Partner operating with a 25-person team that grows at a rate of 44% annually and maintains one of the highest gross revenue retention rates in the HubSpot ecosystem at 90.3%. The company culture values clarity, consistency, and accountability with senior leadership driving delivery. The team environment is supportive and personable, starting meetings with lighthearted sharing like family photos.
Role Overview
The Director of Technical Solutions holds a key leadership position alongside the Director of Revenue and the Director of Client Services. This role bridges sales and client delivery by translating business challenges into technical blueprints encompassing migration planning, implementations, system design, and reprocessing existing client setups. The director is responsible for defining plans executed by engineering and is accountable for successful, timely delivery.
This leadership seat offers room for expansion, allowing the incumbent to shape and scale Growth’s technical services as the company grows. The role also ensures that complex technical sales promises are accurate and project scopes remain aligned with delivery capabilities to prevent client issues.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy and scope planning for HubSpot-focused projects such as migrations, system implementations, and operational systemization.
- Develop and own comprehensive project plans with accountability for adherence to timelines, scope, and budget, collaborating closely with the engineering team.
- Ensure engineering quality assurance and proactively manage delivery risks, including initiating change orders before issues arise.
- Oversee AI governance within client projects, focusing on data privacy, security standards, and responsible AI implementation.
- Act as the authoritative technical resource during critical decision-making involving API access, data integrity, and essential client requirements.
- Collaborate as a peer with the Director of Revenue to reconcile technical feasibility with commercial objectives.
Sales and Delivery Duties
- Conduct technical discovery sessions on strategic, high-value prospects.
- Real-time translation of business objectives into HubSpot's technical architecture during sales calls.
- Create technically sound, actionable, and profitable scopes of work with multiple solution tier options.
- Confirm alignment between sales commitments and delivery capabilities, validating client scopes rigorously before engagement.
- Serve as the senior-level technical escalation point throughout project execution.
- Identify and communicate risks early to avoid project failures.
- Mentor and develop the technical team, establishing reusable frameworks and templates to streamline future scoping.
Work Approach
This role partners closely with the Head of Engineering to maintain strong alignment between planned and executed work, anticipating potential issues early. The director leverages internal HubSpot expertise and product contacts when necessary, while focusing on leading the system rather than personally implementing every component. Time is split approximately 60% internally on planning, scoping, and team coordination, and 40% externally with clients during both pre-sale and post-sale stages. This balance is crucial for maintaining credibility and ensuring seamless delivery.
Reporting Structure
The Director of Technical Solutions reports directly to the Director of Revenue and manages the Head of Engineering. This direct leadership relationship underscores the collaborative importance of this role.
Required Qualifications
- At least seven years of client-facing consulting or agency experience, preferably serving enterprise clients.
- Proven track record managing 50+ enterprise-level accounts throughout career.
- Extensive expertise with HubSpot and working knowledge of Salesforce and other enterprise growth operations platforms.
- Practical experience in data migration and systems integration projects.
- Strong project management skills, with experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives often involving external software or development partners.
- Confident and effective in technical roles during high-stakes sales engagements.
- Experience overseeing outsourced or offshore engineering teams.
- Familiarity with AI implementation standards covering data privacy, security, and governance within client contexts.
- No formal degree requirement; emphasis placed on relevant experience and accomplishments.
Ideal Candidate Traits
- Enjoys solving complex challenges involving feasibility and tradeoffs while presenting multiple solution options.
- Communicates proactively, transparently, and frequently, especially to flag potential issues early.
- Has prior accountability experience and a clear understanding of effective team leadership versus ineffective management.
- Prepared to handle a leadership workload that may exceed 40 hours in peak periods related to complex deals.
Compensation and Location
- Base salary ranges from $130,000 to $170,000, dependent on experience and geographic location within the U.S.
- Potential on-target earnings (OTE) exceed $200,000, including performance-related incentives tied to timely, accurate, and revenue-collected project completions.
- Annual performance reviews with merit-based salary increases.
- Position is remote within the United States; salaries may be adjusted for candidates outside the U.S. to reflect local market conditions and cost of living.
