About the Role
The Director of Operations at Astral Health & Beauty is a vital executive team member charged with steering the company's comprehensive operational strategy. This includes managing order fulfillment, inventory, logistics, distribution, quality assurance, and partnerships with third-party logistics providers. The role aims to champion operational excellence, reinforce scalable workflows, elevate cost effectiveness, and support expansion across multiple channels such as direct-to-consumer, retail, e-commerce, international markets, and B2B segments. Reporting to the CEO, the Director combines strategic oversight with practical operational management and a commitment to continuous improvement to ensure precise, efficient product delivery that meets stringent quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the 3PL partner and internal departments to implement inventory management approaches that optimize stock levels, minimize holding costs, avoid shortages, and guarantee product freshness and availability.
- Supervise logistics operations involving 3PL warehousing, transportation, distribution, and fulfillment to guarantee punctual, accurate, and cost-efficient delivery to customers and retail partners.
- Source, assess, and deploy operational technologies such as ERP systems, EDI processes, and supply chain software to enhance visibility, accuracy, reporting, and operational efficiency.
- Set, oversee, and uphold quality standards across the supply chain, working with cross-functional teams to protect product integrity and operational consistency.
- Implement quality control processes ensuring compliance with industry regulations, client specifications, and internal standards.
- Manage sales order operations, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment across diverse order types (DTC, B2B, international, retail, drop ship).
- Oversee EDI process management, including onboarding new trading partners, transaction monitoring, troubleshooting, and order accuracy improvement.
- Coordinate with 3PL and operations teams to analyze retailer and e-tailer chargebacks, identify underlying issues, and execute corrective strategies to minimize future deductions.
- Seek and drive process optimization, automation, standardization, and efficiency enhancements within operations and the supply chain.
- Oversee operational budgets, monitor KPIs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resource allocation while preserving service quality and standards.
- Lead and cultivate a high-performing operations team, promoting collaboration, accountability, operational rigor, innovation, and continuous growth.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is mandatory; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 8 to 10+ years of progressively responsible roles in operations, supply chain, logistics, order management, or distribution within sectors such as health and beauty, consumer goods, retail, or e-commerce.
- Proven track record in leadership roles driving supply chain optimization, enhanced service levels, cost reduction, and scalable process implementation to fuel growth.
- Strong skills in negotiation, vendor relations, 3PL management, and stakeholder partnerships.
- Deep understanding of demand planning, inventory control, logistics, and distribution strategies.
- Proficient with ERP platforms, EDI systems, warehouse management software, reporting tools, and supply chain technologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, project leadership, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
